Just when we thought that the ultra-modern watches of François Quentin reached the pinnacle of styling and innovation, the master designer makes the fans giddy by enclosing the mechanism in a fully transparent case.
The evolution makes sure that nothing remains hidden – the design of the MTV-01 can be seen though a revolutionary case, made entirely of sapphire
The 4N SAPPHIRE PLANET’s concept came to life to promote the mechanical movement developed with APRP which issues 237 h of power reserve through manual winding. Through the sapphire case we can admire the 514 hand-made components.
The jumping hours and minutes re no longer limited to be seen from above, but we get an insight to the wealth of mechanical intricacies traditionally hidden. The tremendous complexity of the kinematics of discs resemble planets in motion.
“I wanted to create a new case Sapphire to set in majesty the movement with his exceptional tridimensional architecture. The idea was to highlight the mechanism, offer a setting that al-lows plunge into the heart of the mechanism. Transparency was the key to this new project.” explains François Quentin, founder and designer of 4N.
The technical challenge of manufacturing the space form one single piece was huge. Hundreds of hours are necessary for the machining of a single case.
The graciously transparent 4N SAPPHIRE PLANET is an edition limited to 3 pieces, one in each key colour of the 4N brand – one blue, one green, and one orange.
